What we do

What does a wedding planner in Punjab do?

A wedding planner manages the venues, vendors, guests and schedules for every function, so the family does not have to. For our clients, that covers five areas.

Venues

Hotels, resorts, palaces, farmhouses and heritage havelis all work differently. Before you commit, we compare them on guest capacity, parking, rooms, power backup and the venue’s own rules.

Décor

Flowers, stage, entrance, bridal entry and lighting. Each function gets its own look, but all of them should feel like one wedding.

Vendors

Caterers, photographers, makeup artists, DJs, dhol players and decorators. You speak to us, and we speak to them.

Guests

Who is arriving and when, where they stay and how they get around. We plan the milni so both families are received properly and without hurry.

The day itself

We build the schedule, stay on-site and fix small problems before the family hears about them.

Know the rituals

What do roka, chunni, mayian, jaggo and milni mean?

These are the main functions of a Punjabi wedding, in roughly the order they happen. Practices vary by family, community and region.

Roka

The formal agreement between the two families to go ahead with the match.

Chunni

The ceremony where the groom’s family presents the bride with a chunni and gifts, marking the engagement.

Mehndi

The henna evening for the bride, usually with family, music and food.

Mayian

A pre-wedding ritual in which ubtan is applied to the bride and groom, each at their own home, who then wear simple clothes until the wedding.

Sangeet

The music and dance night, often with performances by both families.

Jaggo

A night-before procession with lit, decorated pots, music and dancing, traditionally led by maternal relatives.

Anand Karaj

The Sikh wedding ceremony, held in a Gurdwara in the presence of the Guru Granth Sahib. Hindu Punjabi families hold pheras instead.

Milni

The formal meeting of the two families’ relatives, usually at the venue entrance, with garlands and gifts.

Vidaai

The bride’s farewell from her parental home.

Reception

The celebration hosted by the groom’s family after the wedding.

City by city

Wedding planning across Punjab

Each Punjab city has its own venue style, traffic pattern and guest-travel challenge. Here is what we plan around in each.

Wedding planner in Ludhiana

Wedding Planner in Ludhiana

Ludhiana weddings tend to be large, and parking and evening traffic matter more than most families expect. We have planned weddings at Hyatt Regency Ludhiana (5-star, sophisticated halls), Radisson Blu Hotel MBD Ludhiana (expansive ballrooms) and The Cabbana Resort & Spa (a large nature resort suited to big outdoor celebrations). We plan parking, brief the venue on entry flow and schedule vendor load-in before peak traffic.

Wedding planner in Amritsar

Wedding Planner in Amritsar

Amritsar offers luxury hotels and heritage havelis. Taj Swarna has a pillarless hall and a manicured lawn, and Ranjit’s SVAASA is a heritage boutique haveli with royal settings and traditional Punjabi charm. When the Anand Karaj is part of the wedding, we plan the Gurdwara timing and outstation guests’ travel together, so no one is racing between the Gurdwara and the venue.

Wedding planner in Jalandhar

Wedding Planner in Jalandhar

Functions here are often spread over more than one venue, so transport and timing become the main concern. We manage multi-city and multi-function weddings across Ludhiana, Amritsar and Jalandhar, with a movement plan for guests, family cars and vendors.

Wedding planner in Mohali and Zirakpur

Wedding Planner in Mohali & Zirakpur

Our office is in Mohali, so site visits and vendor meetings here are quick. Hotels, banquet halls and lawns near Chandigarh and the airport suit families with guests flying in, and we coordinate pickups and hotel check-ins around the function schedule.

Venues

Which are the best wedding venues in Punjab?

Our five most requested luxury venues are in Ludhiana and Amritsar, and we have worked at all of them.

VenueCityTypeBest for
Hyatt Regency LudhianaLudhiana5-star hotelSophisticated indoor receptions and fine dining
Radisson Blu Hotel MBD LudhianaLudhiana5-star hotelLarge ballroom functions
Taj SwarnaAmritsar5-star hotelGrand pillarless hall and lawn setups
The Cabbana Resort & SpaLudhianaResort and spaLarge outdoor and destination-style weddings
Ranjit’s SVAASAAmritsarHeritage boutique haveliRoyal, traditional Punjabi settings

Before you pay a deposit at any venue, ask:

  • Is outside catering and décor allowed, or is it in-house only?
  • What is the music cut-off, and who holds the permission?
  • How many cars can park on site, and what is the overflow plan?
  • Does the generator cover the whole venue?
  • How many rooms are included for the family?

Cost & budget

How much does a wedding planner in Punjab cost?

Planning fee

Wedding planners in Punjab charge either a flat fee or a percentage of the total budget. For full planning of a multi-day wedding, our fee ranges from ₹2 lakh to ₹6 lakh. The final fee depends mainly on the number of functions, and also on the guest count and how much of the work you want us to handle. Décor, venue, catering and other vendor payments are separate.

The fee scales with the number of functions. A single function or partial booking sits at the lower end, and a multi-day wedding with most of the ten functions sits toward the upper end.

You receive a written proposal with services, costs and timelines before you commit, and the first consultation is free.

Why do wedding costs go up?

Three things push budgets past the plan: décor added at the last minute, guest numbers that keep changing and vendors running beyond their agreed hours. We fix all three in writing early, which keeps the budget predictable.

How should I split a wedding budget?

Decide what matters most before you book anything. One family wants a huge stage and a long menu, another would rather spend on live music or better rooms for guests. Once that is clear, the rest of the budget follows.

A typical budget covers six areas: venue and catering, décor and lighting, photography and video, entertainment (DJ, dhol, live music), guest accommodation and transport, and a contingency. After your first consultation, we set a target share for each.

Near and far

Destination weddings & NRI families

Can we plan a destination wedding?

Yes. We plan destination weddings in Punjab and across 20+ cities in India, including Udaipur, Jaipur, Goa, Shimla, New Delhi and Agra. A beautiful venue is only the start. Travel, hotels, local vendors, movement between venues and the schedule for each function all need handling, and we coordinate each one. Beach, fort, vineyard, mountain, cruise and intimate weddings are all available.

If you are a Sikh couple, the Anand Karaj must take place in a Gurdwara and follow Sikh religious guidelines, including Akal Takht directives. Every other function can be planned around the destination you choose.

Can NRI families plan a Punjab wedding from abroad?

Yes. Video calls and digital approvals keep you involved while our Punjab team handles the ground work. We share mood boards, vendor quotes and schedules online, and we do the venue visits, food tastings and vendor meetings in person. A Wed-Site gives relatives abroad one place for schedules and RSVPs.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about wedding planning in Punjab

How much does a wedding planner in Punjab cost?

Full-service planning for a multi-day Punjabi wedding costs ₹2 lakh to ₹6 lakh, excluding décor and vendor payments. The final fee depends mainly on the number of functions, and also on guest count and services included. We provide a written proposal after a free consultation.

How early should I hire a wedding planner in Punjab?

Book 8–12 months ahead for weddings between November and February, when venues, Gurdwara slots and top vendors fill early. For off-season dates, 4–6 months is usually workable.

What are the best wedding venues in Punjab?

Popular luxury venues include Hyatt Regency Ludhiana, Radisson Blu Hotel MBD Ludhiana, Taj Swarna Amritsar, The Cabbana Resort & Spa and Ranjit’s SVAASA. We have worked at all five and can help you choose and book.

Do you handle both intimate and large weddings?

Yes. We plan everything from intimate family weddings to large luxury celebrations, based on guest count, venue requirements, décor preferences and your overall vision.

Can you create customised Punjabi wedding décor themes?

Yes. We design grand royal setups, vibrant floral décor, modern luxury styling and traditional Punjabi arrangements, matched to your venue and traditions.

What is the difference between a wedding planner and a décor company?

A planner manages venues, vendors, guests and schedules. A décor company designs and builds the visual setup. Decor By Pearls does both, so the design fits the schedule and the venue.

Can the Anand Karaj be part of a destination wedding?

Yes, as long as it takes place in a Gurdwara in the presence of the Guru Granth Sahib and follows Akal Takht directives. The other functions can be held at the destination, and we plan the schedule around the Gurdwara ceremony.

Is there a time limit on wedding music in Punjab?

Under India’s Noise Pollution Rules, loudspeakers and amplified music are generally restricted between 10 pm and 6 am unless a specific permission applies. Venue policies and local authorities can be stricter. We check both and schedule the sangeet and baraat accordingly.

What should I look for before hiring a wedding planner?

Review their past work, venue experience, vendor network and how clearly they quote. Ask for a written proposal, and speak to past clients from your city.
